Celebrities Help the Cause

Today on the noon news, Taylor Swift was promoting safe ways to combat the spread of the COVID-19 virus.  When  researching  for my book, Grounded, I found that celebrities did the same thing back in the 1550’s. Louis Armstrong promoted The March of Dimes, a group of women raising funds to assist in  research and development of the polio  vaccine.  And in 1956, a young Elvis Presley was photographed  getting vaccinated with the polio vaccine.  People were encouraged to help out neighbours who  were quarantined  by dropping off groceries. Today we are  also  being encouraged to do the same for those who  are in isolation due to  quarantine or self-isolation. This is a perfect opportunity  to show others we care.
